Volunteer Opportunities

We are always in need of your help to assist us in fulfilling our mission. You can donate home-made blankets by becoming a “blanketeer,” give of your time at a local chapter event, or even become a Chapter Coordinator yourself.

Become a “Blanketeer”

BlanketOur volunteers, known as “blanketeers,” provide new, handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill and traumatized children, ages 0-18. It is Project Linus' policy to accept blankets of all sizes, depending on local chapter needs. All blanket styles are welcome, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. Always remember that blankets must be homemade, washable, free of pins, and come from smoke-free environments due to allergy reasons.

To help you get started, be sure to check our “Patterns” page. There you will find links to many of our popular, free patterns.

On our “Friends” page you will find mention of several businesses that provide much-needed help to Project Linus. You will also see additional links to websites that provide both free and for sale patterns, along with many other things of interest to the Project Linus Blanketeer. Many of these businesses offer special discounts to friends of Project Linus plus donate a percentage of these sales back to us.

Give of Your Time

TimeOur local chapters not only collect and distribute blankets but they also organize several blanket-making events throughout the year. Our chapters depend on volunteers to help in every facet of their activities and are always welcome to a “helping hand.”

Find the chapter closest to you by clicking the your state on map located on this page.

Become a Chapter Coordinator

CheckmarkAs you can see from our local chapter listings on this page, organized by state, we cover many areas of the United States. From time to time a coordinator chooses to retire from the chapter which creates an opportunity for someone else in the same geographic location to take on the role of chapter coordinator. These instances are called a “chapter transfer.”

Please Note: At the present time we are not accepting any new chapter coordinator applications; only transfer chapter coordinator applications are accepted. When we again open the opportunity for new chapter applications it will be announced here.
