Thank you for your interest in opening a chapter of Project Linus in your area. Our organization has enjoyed tremendous growth over the last several years, and it is mostly because of the strength and dedication of our volunteer chapter coordinators. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Project Linus Chapter Coordinator, please read the following information carefully.
Chapter Locations
Project Linus chapters are geographically based. Please check our Chapter Listings to see if there is already a chapter in your area. Chapters are not based or limited to groups such as guilds, churches or clubs. Surrounding chapters will be consulted before new chapters in close proximity will be opened.
Please note: There are many important things to consider when thinking of becoming a Project Linus chapter coordinator. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about our mission, and willing to follow procedures, which can be time consuming. Basic organizational and computer skills are required. An ability to work well with people is a must. You are the representative of Project Linus! If that sounds like you, then we are anxious to hear from you! However if you are mostly interested in becoming one of our precious Project Linus “blanketeers” – please contact your nearest chapter for more information.
Chapter Coordinator Responsibilities
A Project Linus Chapter Coordinator is the representative of Project Linus in a given area, called a chapter. Each Chapter Coordinator is responsible for all administrative duties pertaining to the chapter. These include among other things:
- Finding volunteers in your community.
- Establishing relationships with recipient facilities.
- Insuring quality control in blanketmaking, and making sure that all blankets meet Project Linus’ high standards.
- Handling correspondence for the chapter between the chapter and volunteers, and the chapter and Project Linus National Headquarters. Email must be checked and phone calls returned on a DAILY basis.
- Adhering to all Project Linus reporting requirements which include quarterly reports of chapter activity, annual reports and others (all reporting is done directly to Project Linus National Headquarters – not to federal and state agencies).
- Adhering to Project Linus financial policies and reporting requirements.
- Local fundraising.
Chapter Coordinator Application Types
There are two ways you can become a chapter coordinator:
- Open a new chapter in a geographic location not presently served by an existing chapter.
- Transfer an existing chapter to you from a coordinator who no longer wishes to serve in that capacity.
Chapter Coordinator Application Windows
New chapter applications can only be submitted during the months of March and August of each calendar year. New chapters are subsequently opened for approved applicants during April and September of each year. NO LATE NEW CHAPTER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. If you miss either the March or August time frames then you will need to wait until the next window of opportunity.
Transfer chapter applications can be submitted at any time during the year.
