During the Guilford County Greensboro Chapter's Make a Difference Day Event they placed blankets donated from across the country on stage with a US Fleece Map. Then, each Chapter donating blankets for Victory Junction Gang Camp was marked on the map.
Babies R Us donated 20 Winnie the Pooh diaper bags and 20 local Blanketeers "adopted" a bag. They made blankets, sweater sets, and receiving blankets. Over the last 3 months they added things that a new mom would need for a baby. These were then donated to the Guilford County Coalition on Infant Mortality (they serve the poorest of the local population). The bags are to be distributed by the two directors in two of the county's towns, Greensboro and High Point. A representative from Babies R Us was present and she could not wipe the smile off her face or stop exclaiming about the WONDERFUL job the Blanketeers did with the bags!
The generosity of the chapters that fell behind the local efforts for Victory Junction Gang Camp was more than could be believed! With the donation of blankets from 47 Project Linus Chapters in 26 states and 200 blankets made locally, a donation was made of 304 Blankets to Victory Junction Gang Camp. An additional 234 blankets became available at the event to meet winter needs of local recipient facilities, and to help start the "Here's a Hug" program in Guilford County Schools.
