On our Project Linus Blanket Buzz pages, we display different events from across the country. Here you can read about and see where Project Linus blankets are made by volunteers and/or distributed to children in need.
We welcome your submissions to Blanket Buzz! To submit, please send us an e-mail and attach any pictures you would like for us to include.
Please Note: If you have several pictures then please let us know beforehand so that we can be watching for them.
The Chicagoland chapter of Project Linus has had a busy and productive summer, discovering new places to deliver their blankets. A visit to a center for medically complex children showed them just how much their blankets mean to those in need. Two members of the Chicago/Northbrook chapter attended a recent Project Linus conference (and have vowed not to miss future events!). A memorable moment came after Cheryl Belliston’s presentation on Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). After viewing Cheryl’s tape, members asked what sort of blanket the children needed. “They can only use fleece blankets” Cheryl replied, and the Chicago/Northbrook chapter immediately promised her the 170 fleece blankets that a company had just donated to their chapter. “Isn’t it amazing how blankets appear on our doorstep just as our inventory is running low?” Cheryl’s tape on EB was replayed at a mid-July Appreciation Tea at the Northbrook, Illinois library, and two Child Life specialists spoke about the children who receive the blankets. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The coordinators had brought six boxes of fleece blankets along, hoping someone would take a few home to fringe. All six boxes were emptied by the end of the presentation. Chapter coordinators were touched by the volunteers’ generosity. Over 50 blanketeers attended the event, donating almost 200 blankets to Project Linus.
